Not-So Adoptable Basset Hound

Foster Failure | Fred

BREAKING NEWS
W. Lafayette, Indiana

There has been a foster failure reported to Buckeye Basset Hound Rescue. The foster family applied for adoption papers earlier this week. The task of temporary custody proved too difficult because the foster family fell in love with the basset hound in their care.

Fred the five year old tri-colored basset hound waddled into Pat and Melody's home stealing hearts and taking over the couch. When asked about the recent developments, Melody said, "We picked him up on Saturday, and by Monday afternoon it was a done deal. He was so mellow. He NEVER stopped wagging his tail. I also loved the way he is totally content to just hang out and he loved to cuddle on the couch."

"Fred tries to be friendly with the cat, but well...she isn't friendly with anyone." - Melody

Fred the adorable basset hound was not available for comment. Eyewitness reports suggested he was too busy playing with his new friend Katie, Pat and Melody's other basset hound, to notice the change in official custody. Fred is the third basset hound to enter the Carducci Pack, although Pat had two basset hounds previously named Pokey and Custer. "Pat already had a love of the breed. Katie was my first basset, and she is hands down the best dog ever. So there is no other breed for us," commented Melody.

The Carducci pack lost their beloved basset, Grace, this past July. Regarding their loss, Melody said, "We lost our Grace to cancer in July. And our house seemed so empty we had to have another. When I found out Bonnie was starting a rescue I knew I had to help." Melody went on to discuss why her and Pat enjoy fostering homeless basset hounds. She said, "We love fostering.. it is such a small thing to do, to help a dog recover, or learn the skills necessary to be part of a great family. I look forward to fostering more, but no more failures..we always want room to have a third if necessary."
